Areni 2021 - Zulal

Wine Zulal - Produced in the historic region of Vayots Dzor, the cradle of Armenian viticulture, this wine illustrates the ambition of the Zulal estate – whose name means “pure” – to reveal the most authentic expression of indigenous grapes grown on high-altitude volcanic soils. Made from old vines aged between 50 and 100 years in the highlands of Vayots Dzor, this 2021 Areni from Zulal captures all the intensity of an extreme terroir. Between limestone and volcanic soils, at an altitude of nearly 1,400 metres, the grapes develop a character that is both pure and structured. Vinified in stainless steel vats to preserve the fruit’s vibrancy, this vintage opens with a precise nose of red cherry, plum and delicate pepper. On the palate, the texture is supple, carried by a lovely freshness that balances the aromatic concentration. Notes of berries and spices unfold with precision, without heaviness. The finish, clean and slightly spicy, prolongs this sensation of controlled energy. A sincere and nuanced red, which expresses with finesse the full personality of Areni.
