Wine E. Pira E Figli Chiara Boschis - From the prestigious Mosconi vineyard in Monforte d’Alba, this 2022 Barolo expresses all the power and nobility of Nebbiolo in a sunny, concentrated vintage. Produced from old vines planted on mineral-rich marl-limestone soils, it embodies a style that is both structured and elegant, the hallmark of Chiara Boschis. Visually, the colour is an intense, luminous garnet red. The nose, deep and complex, reveals aromas of clay and cured meats, alongside a fresh and exquisite bouquet of violet, redcurrant and blood orange, with a subtle hint of liquorice. Full-bodied and harmonious, with silky tannins, this wine is ripe, velvety and briny, offering lively acidity and a fleshy texture. The balance between richness, freshness and mineral tension brings a lovely energy. The long, lingering finish reveals salty and slightly spicy notes, typical of the Mosconi terroir. This Barolo stands out for its character, which is both ‘muscular’ and refined, offering significant ageing potential. It will gain in complexity after a few years in the bottle, whilst already being approachable after aeration.
