Bouthéran Les Grumes 2023 - Domaine Vial

Wine Domaine Vial - Ambassadors for the Côte-Roannaise and the vineyards of the Massif Central, the Vial brothers continue their high-quality work, regularly praised by critics. Based on the family estate west of Roanne, Philippe and Jean-Marie Vial produce the AOC Bouthéran Les Grumes from their iconic vineyard on the Bouthéran hillside. Planted with Gamay Saint-Romain on a very particular type of rock, leptynite, the grapes are 100% destemmed before undergoing vinification, with fermentation (20 days) and ageing in barrels (6 months) taking place in the same containers. From these grumes (grapes vinified under the vines), a wine is born with an intense nose of morello cherry, enhanced by vegetal notes, fresh, full-bodied, juicy and long on the palate, carried by fine tannins and perfectly integrated oak. A vintage deemed remarkable by the Guide Hachette des Vins, to be discovered now or enjoyed in a few years' time. The estate is in the process of converting to organic farming.
