Caractère 2024 - Domaine Weszeli

Wine Weingut Weszeli - The Caractère cuvée expresses the unique character of the terroirs in the northern Kamptal. This wine pays tribute to the geological diversity of the vineyards around Langenlois. The grapes come from three distinct plots – Steinhaus, Steinmassl and Steinberg – where soils of gneiss, micaceous schist and shell limestone lend the wine depth and character. The Grüner Veltliner grapes are harvested by hand and then vinified separately to preserve the expression of each terroir. Part of the must is left to macerate on the skins for a few days, whilst the rest is slowly pressed and fermented spontaneously. After blending, the wine is aged for nine months in stainless steel tanks, without fining, to preserve its purity. The result is a vertical and precise wine. The nose reveals delicate floral and fruity notes evoking fresh apple and grapefruit. On the palate, the texture is elegant and dynamic, underpinned by lovely tension and a subtle salty note that prolongs the finish.
