Wine Château de Marsannay - Produced from a rigorous selection of the finest grapes, the Marsannay du Château 2023 perfectly expresses the full diversity of its terroirs. Planting on clay-limestone soils blending limestone with entroques and marl containing Ostrea accuminata (an ancient oyster fossil), the vines draw on a mineral richness that shapes the wine’s character. Situated on the lower and middle slopes, with an east to south-east aspect, they benefit from ideal conditions for the gradual and balanced ripening of the Pinot Noir. The harvest is carried out by hand, followed by meticulous sorting to retain only the highest-quality grapes. After destemming, the berries are vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, allowing for cold maceration that preserves the aromatic finesse. Fermentation is accompanied by measured punching down and pumping over, promoting precise and elegant extraction. After gentle pressing, ageing continues in barrels, some of which are new, for twelve months, followed by a further six months in bulk to harmonise the whole. On tasting, this wine reveals aromas of ripe black fruits, enhanced by spicy and undergrowth notes. On the palate, supple and fresh, it offers a fine balance between intensity and finesse, with an elegant and lingering finish.
