Marsannay l'Ancestrale Rouge 2023 - Domaine Sylvain Pataille

Wine Domaine Sylvain Pataille - The Marsannay “L’Ancestrale” Red 2023 from Domaine Sylvain Pataille is a cuvée of character, produced from old Pinot Noir vines aged between 60 and 80 years, which yield juices of great concentration and beautiful complexity. The estate demonstrates its full expertise through meticulous viticulture and deliberately very low yields, around 20 hl/ha, in order to prioritise the intensity and depth of the fruit. The winemaking process reflects this pursuit of precision and structure, with around 50% whole-bunch fermentation contributing depth, freshness and aromatic complexity. Ageing then continues on fine lees in barrels, nearly 30% of which are new oak, for around 24 months, allowing the wine to gain depth whilst refining its structure. On tasting, the wine reveals a dense and elegant texture, blending ripe red and black fruits, delicate spices and floral notes. The palate is full-bodied and structured, supported by fine tannins and a lovely vigour, with a long, savoury finish. A deep and distinguished cuvée, designed for ageing, which perfectly illustrates the estate’s exacting approach to Pinot Noir.
