Wine Bodegas y Viñedos Pujanza - Pujanza Hado 2021 is a frank and straightforward wine, a ‘traditional yet innovative’ crianza, reflecting the work of Carlos San Pedro at his eponymous estate in Rioja Alavesa. Released after 12 months’ ageing in French oak barrels, this 100% Tempranillo Rioja is the only one made from grapes sourced from several vineyards (and 23 plots). This technique allows the blend to vary each year, depending on the specific characteristics of the vintage. Grown on vines planted in clay-limestone soils, at an altitude of between 450 and 600 metres, this Pujanza stands out for its freshness and typicity. It offers a lovely balance of red fruit, spices and herbaceous notes. On the nose, it reveals aromas of red plums and cherries, enhanced by spicy notes and a hint of citrus. The palate is full-bodied, with abundant, slightly powdery tannins, and the firm, juicy finish reveals subtle Mediterranean flavours.
