Serraflex contains microbiologically produced Serrazimes_x0000_-reg;-I protease enzyme as the active ingredient. This proteolytic enzyme is obtained from the moulds Aspergillus oryzae and Aspergillus melleus.

It is presented as an alternative to the serrapeptase enzyme, which was originally isolated from bacteria in the gut of the Japanese silkworm. The product information describes that enzyme preparations are used, for example, in products intended to support everyday wellbeing.
